Lee and Jackson fought for states rights

There is a lot of misinformation about the south in the Civil War. Not all the generals were fighting for the institution of slavery. Many like Lee and Jackson were fighting for states rights or, too much federal government control. What do you think about this? If the south would have won it is the humble opinion of this writer, that slavery would have been abolished anyway. The war just brought it to a quicker end (thank God). I think Lee and Jackson were way ahead of their time and could see an America plagued by Federal Government control. What say you?
